Partnering for Student Success

At the Intensive Learning Center, we truly value and appreciate our parent volunteers! Your time, care, and involvement help us provide the best possible learning experience for every ILC Eagle.

If you are interested in volunteering, please begin by speaking with your child’s classroom teacher. Once the teacher has established a volunteer schedule and welcomed you into the classroom, complete the BUSD Volunteer Application and submit it to the school office.

Volunteer Guidelines

To help maintain a safe, focused, and positive learning environment, all volunteers are asked to:

• Complete and submit the BUSD Volunteer Application to the school office.

• Sign in and sign out at the office each time you volunteer.
• Wear a volunteer sticker while on campus.
• Volunteer only in the approved classroom or activity area.
• Respect instructional time by not visiting or walking around other areas of campus.
• Follow the classroom teacher’s volunteer expectations and schedule.
• Arrange for childcare, as toddlers and babies may not accompany volunteers during classroom volunteer times.

Please note that classroom volunteer opportunities are determined by each classroom teacher.

Volunteers are not needed during recess or lunch, as ILC and Think Together staff supervise students during these times.

PTA Volunteer Opportunities

Visitor’s Guide

Parents are always welcome visitors at the Intensive Learning Center. To protect instructional time and support student learning, we follow the BUSD Visitor Policy.

Please make arrangements with your child’s teacher at least 24 hours in advance of your visit. This helps ensure that the visit does not interfere with instruction, assemblies, field trips, testing, or other scheduled school activities.

Visitor Expectations

• Classroom visits are generally limited to approximately 20 minutes.

• Visitors will be accompanied by a site administrator.

• Children and additional guests may not accompany classroom visitors.
• Parents who wish to visit a classroom more than once may schedule visits every 30 days.
• All visitors must sign in at the office and wear a visitor sticker while on campus.

Flag Ceremony

Parents are welcome to attend our daily Flag Ceremony at 8:00 a.m. We ask all guests to help model respect for the flag, the moment of silence, patriotic songs, speakers, and student presentations by:

• Refraining from conversation during the ceremony.

• Standing behind the white line.
• Joining us in celebrating student birthdays, Student of the Month recognitions, and other special accomplishments.

Parents are also welcome on campus at the end of the school day during student pick-up.

We value a strong home-school connection and encourage parents to communicate directly with teachers. If you have questions about your child’s academic progress or behavior, please schedule a conference with the teacher.
