Procedures and Policies

Parents are always welcome as visitors at the ILC.  We do adhere to the BUSD Visitor's Policy and ask parents to make arrangements with your child’s teacher at least 24 hours in advance to make sure visits do not interfere with instruction, an assembly, field trip, testing etc. Visits should be limited to approximately 20 minutes, and parents will be accompanied by a site administrator. Children and guests are not allowed. If a parent chooses to visit a classroom more than once, visits will be permit every thirty days.  All visitors are expected to sign in at the office and wear a visitor's sticker.  Parents are welcome at Flag Ceremony each morning (8:00 a.m.)   Please help us model appropriate respect to the flag, moment of silence, our patriotic song, to speakers and presentations by refraining from conversation during the ceremony and by standing behind the white line.  We do honor our students during Flag Ceremony for daily birthdays, Student of the Month, and other special accomplishments.  Our campus is also open at the end of the school day as parents pick up their students from school.  We encourage a strong home-school connection and want the primary level of communication to be between parents and teachers.  As such, we ask that parents schedule a conference time to meet with teachers and ask specific questions about their child's academic and behavioral progress.
